It’s been far too long and things have been far too busy, so I’m delighted to be back for a relaxed episode with a great conversation on a delightful topic. My guest is Tania Tomaszewska, banking lawyer turned wine explorer. Long-time listeners will remember Tania from Episode 035 – Wine and Wifi and from more recent SideBar segments on episodes of Cheftimony, like this one and this one.
Today, Tania and I dive into the seeming busyness of the world of late and into just why lawyers are drawn to the world of wine. Then we turn to some delightful particulars of what’s going on with wine, both close to home in British Columbia and in two beautiful Italian islands.
You’ll hear about some Okanagan Valley spots including Solvero Wines and Shaughnessy’s Cove restaurant in Summerland and about some great stops in the Similkameen Valley like Orofino Vineyards, Crowsnest Vineyards, and Klippers Organic Acres (with Row Fourteen Restaurant).
Tania also shares some current favourite wine picks from two Italian islands, Sicily and Sardinia: Pietradolce, Planeta, and Argiolas. I was so excited by Tania’s mention of Sardinia that I blurted out how keen I am to visit the island so that I can try the local specialty, culurgiones. They look a wee bit tricky to make, but delicious, and Tania thinks they’d pair beautifully with a local Vermentino.
So if, like me, you’ve been the feeling the world is too busy lately… tune into my talk with Tania for a few moments of calm as we share thoughts and laughs about the world of wine.
