Cheftimony Snack: Live from the Commute
I recorded today’s short snack-sized episode of the podcast on the Vancouver side of Howe Sound, just before dashing to Horseshoe Bay to board BC Ferries for the 40-minute ride to the Sunshine Coast. I’ve been living this itinerant life for close to two years now and – the occasional missed ferry aside – I love it.
My fiancée and I both work three days each week in the city and two on the Coast. That (usually) means we have our weekends in Gibsons, which is fantastic. As I explored a little bit on last week’s episode and in more detail on Episode 015, the Sunshine Coast has some beautiful and delicious places.
This weekend, I’m delighted to be sharing the Coast with visitors from my original hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. A high school buddy and his young family will be joining us, and I can’t wait to show them around the territory. And speaking of Thunder Bay! On today’s show, I right a wrong from a snack episode a few shows back. That episode covered a July long weekend trip to Thunder Bay, and I made mention of a couple of my favourite culinary stops. Today I include what I should have included then, quick reviews on two more great spots, the Sovereign Room where we enjoyed a drink and a snack, and the TBay classic Caesar’s Place, home of inimitable panzerotti.
In other news, I’m really happy to be hearing from you! A relatively new listener Spencer commented that he loved Episode 002, my talk with Chef Joshua Crain of Bouchon Las Vegas, and Lisa wrote in offering to connect me with her colleague who’s a lawyer with a focus on the craft beer sector! All very exciting, and very much appreciated.
Looking ahead, I’ve now got the interview date set for my talk with a chef in Asia who practised law for years before committing full-time to the culinary world. That and more is coming up soon. Now though, please take nine minutes to join me for this week’s snack!
