Cheftimony Episode 018 – Can I Take Your Drink Order?

...the show is all about what to order with the food those chefs create. Let’s talk about that drink list!

I’ve had the privilege of speaking with plenty of chefs on the podcast and, fingers crossed, I’ll get to speak to plenty more. Today, though, the show is all about what to order with the food those chefs create. Let’s talk about that drink list!

Joining me today are three great guests. The first is Peter Van de Reep, the bartender in charge of the very impressive drinks program at Campagnolo Upstairs. I stopped in at Camp recently to chat with Peter and we had a great talk about the wines he’s pouring, why he focuses on metro Vancouver craft beers and just how he puts together some of the amazing cocktails he creates.

After my talk with Peter, I headed across Main Street to Boxcar to meet some other friends, including Chad McCarthy, last featured on Cheftimony in Episode 004. Chad is a lawyer by day and a cicerone by night, and we had a really fun talk about what’s been happening in the craft beer scene over the last year and just what Chad thinks you might want to consider sipping on this summer.

And speaking of beer…! Today’s final interview took place in my hometown of Gibsons, British Columbia on an eleven-acre farm also known as Persephone Brewing. What a place. Tasting Room Manager Roo Miller showed me around the property and then we sat down for a great discussion about farming, sustainability, beer, and the perils of hop harvesting… Like Chad and Peter, Roo’s enthusiasm shows, and I think you’re going to love what he has to say on the topic of farming fantastic beer.

Join me for the podcast today as we explore just what’s best to order alongside our food!
