Cheftimony Snack: Side by Side

Looking ahead to a full show featuring an interview with my new friend Julian, an incredibly kind, Vegas-loving, podcast-hosting chef.

Today’s short episode looks ahead to a full show featuring an interview with my new friend Julian, an incredibly kind, Vegas-loving, podcast-hosting chef. I’m really looking forward to sharing our talk with you, I think you’re going to enjoy it.

Before we get there, though, I have to rant a little bit about the joys of renovations which have reached the stage where even the cat seems to be annoyed. Fingers crossed, renos will be wrapped up… soon?

Today I’m also asking for your help in selecting my next chef’s knife. I’m very open to ideas, and the two leading contenders are the Misono UX10 and the Sakai Takayuki Grand Chef, both at 240mm or nine-and-a-half inches. If you’ve been looking for a discussion on the relative merits of stainless versus carbon steel and whether to choose a knife with a right-edge bias, today is your lucky day!

Also on the show, a look ahead to upcoming interviews with a Vancouver sommelier and with a Nevada lawyer who’s an enthusiast on the craft beer scene throughout the state. I’m really excited about both interviews and looking forward to sharing them with you.

And finally… I bring you inside my first ever social media feud! My friend Kristy Totten of the amazing Spicy Eyes Podcast started this whole thing by positing that pairs/duos/couples going out for dinner are best advised to sit across from each other rather than side-to-side. We’ll see about that! Today I share two stories to convince you that side-by-side is the way to go, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this issue.

Oh and… At the beginning of the episode, you’ll hear me say that I will share my contact details at the end of the episode. And then… I don’t. To make up for that oversight, you can message me on Instagram or Facebook (and now Twitter!, saints preserve us) or simply send me an email to graham@cheftimony.com.

Thanks, as always, for joining me. Off we go to today’s 10-minute snack!
