Cheftimony Snack: New Friends in Vegas

On this most recent trip to Vegas, I recorded a short interview with Kristy where she talks both about her podcast and about some food stops in Vegas you may not have heard about yet.

Have you had one of those trips that felt as though it was too quick, that was sandwiched in amongst work and other commitments, that left you exhausted at the end of it and rushing back to work without time to digest the vacation and the fun you had, and… that you know you’ll look back on as a trip that actually meant something?

That’s my most recent weekend in Las Vegas. I met three of my closest friends there, a group of us that rarely gets together, really rarely. None of us had time for it. But we all made the decision to meet, and I’m really glad we did. I know it’s a trip that I’m going to look back on, and I’ll share some more thoughts about the weekend on the next full-fledged episode of Cheftimony, where I’ll also bring you a really fun interview with Chef Jamie Tran of The Black Sheep.

Today, though, I want to cover a few culinary highlights of the weekend and to introduce you to a new friend. As you’ll hear, I reconnected with Chef Josh Crain of Bouchon Las Vegas, and I made return visits to American Coney at The D, to Pizza Rock and even to In n’ Out Burger on the Las Vegas Strip. I also made it to Ada’s Restaurant where I (almost!) interviewed Chef James Trees of Ada’s and Esther’s Kitchen. Unfortunately, a sick cook meant that Chef had to work the line, which means that we’ll have to do our interview another time. But heck, that’s another trip to Vegas…

And on that next trip to Vegas, I’m going to visit Raku and Raku Sweets in Chinatown, among other spots recommended by my new friend Kristy Totten of the Spicy Eyes Podcast. As you’ll hear on today’s episode, I think you’ll love the podcast that Kristy creates with her co-host Sonja Swanson. They are journalists who understand both audio production and story telling, and that means they put out a very impressive show.

On this most recent trip to Vegas, I recorded a short interview with Kristy where she talks both about her podcast and about some food stops in Vegas you may not have heard about yet. Next week, you’ll hear from Kristy and me again in our joint interview with Chef Tran of Black Sheep Las Vegas.

For now, though, join me in this snack-sized episode for a quick talk about a delicious weekend in the desert.
