Cheftimony Snack: Some Experiences

Today I look back on a wonderful meal, cooked at home to celebrate a close friend’s 50th birthday.

Today I look back on a wonderful meal, cooked at home to celebrate a close friend’s 50th birthday. The celebration was supposed to happen in Italy, but of course that’s not on now, so we prepared a “British Columbia Meets Italy” dinner and enjoyed it at home. For wine pairings, we reached out to my friend Tania of TT Wine Explorer, who not only selected perfectly-matched wines but who also showed up on Zoom to lead us through a tasting of all the wines!

Highlights from the meal included a salad of amazing asparagus from Klippers Organics and Legends Haul, a pasta course anchored by Marcella Hazan’s classic tomato sauce, and an incredible rack of lamb from TeMana Lamb.

I also talk today about a note I received from Cassandra of Good Life Vancouver regarding possible guests for the show, which could lead to a great episode of Cheftimony, focused on the East Coast. Finally, I lament the fact that Eleven Madison Park might not re-open, but I remain excited for the future of high-end dining and just how it might change in light of the pandemic.
